We have expanded the menu and added many new recipes. This year, the children have a choice between two main dishes. The first selection listed is always vegetarian. Amy's Patio Cafe never serves fried food! Each main dish can be selected in two sizes, a Regular Lunch (available to all children but generally appropriate for grades 1-4) or a Big Lunch (available to all children but generally appropriate for grades 5-8).
Regular Lunches
Includes: A healthy portion of a selected main dish, ONE selection from the FRUIT AND VEGETABLE CART, ONE selection from the SNACK RACK, and ONE drink.
Big Lunches
Includes: A generous, healthy-sized portion of a selected main dish, TWO selections from the FRUIT AND VEGETABLE CART, ONE selection from the SNACK RACK, and ONE drink.
FRUIT & VEGETABLE CART
This year, instead of packaging the fruit and vegetables in the lunch tin, the children can choose their own fruit or vegetable from the cart. There will always be 2-3 selections for the children to choose from including but not exclusive to: apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, peaches, pears, plums, melons, side salads, and cut vegetables with dip.
SNACK RACK
The children also get a snack from the snack rack. There will always be 2-3 selections on the snack rack. Snacks always have nutritional value and include but are not exclusive to: granola bars, nuts, trail mix, dried fruit, yogurt, applesauce, baked chips, vegetable chips, pretzels, and hummus with pita chips.
A LA CARTE
After all the children signed up for the lunch program have gone through the lunch line, we will sell items off the SNACK RACK and FRUIT & VEGETABLE CART for anywhere between $0.50 and $1.50. Drinks are also available for $0.75. Your child does not have to participate in the lunch program to purchase items a la carte. The children must have cash with them in order to receive items a la carte. We will not hold "balances owed" this year.
Policies
DEADLINES
To buy lunches for your school's regular rate you must place your monthly order by the 3rd of each month. After the 3rd of the month, lunches are considered EMERGENCY LUNCHES and the price increases $.50 per lunch.
EMERGENCY LUNCHES
Emergency lunches can be purchased online after the 3rd of the month either daily or for the entire month. If you place your order daily, you must get your order to us NO LATER THAN 10AM to assure your child gets their selection. Orders after the 3rd of the month increase in price by $.50.
** Lunches purchased at lunch time with no online order only come in the regular size, cost $5.00 or $5.50 (depending on your school), and cash must be present to receive a lunch. If your child does not have cash with them and needs an emergency lunch, they will be sent to the office to make a phone call to a parent/guardian for permission to receive a lunch. Lunch without up-front payment will only be allowed ONCE and only with parent/guardian permission. Amy's Patio Cafe expects to be reimbursed for the emergency lunch within one week of the purchase. Children with outstanding balances will not be allowed to participate in the lunch program until balances have been paid. Emergency lunches are limited. We do not guarantee that your child will receive the selection they want without prior online ordering. **
LUNCH CREDITS
Due to sickness or emergency:
In order to receive credit for a purchased lunch due to sickness or an emergency, you must notify Amy's Patio Cafe either by phone call (626) 798-4737 or by email amyscafe@sbcglobal.net NO LATER THAN 10AM the day of the absence. Please give your child's school name, first and last name, and grade. Credit will not be given if notice is received after 10am on the day of the absence.
Due to field trips or appointments:
In order to receive credit for a purchased lunch due to a field trip or an appointment, you must notify Amy's Patio Cafe either by phone call (626) 798-4737 or by email amyscafe@sbcglobal.net NO LATER THAN 48-HOURS prior to the absence. Please give your child's school name, first and last name, and grade. Credit will not be given if less than 48-hours notice is given.
** The school is not responsible for giving notice to the lunch program regarding absences or last minute field trips. **
How lunch credit is applied:
If you use the online ordering system, your credits will be issued as a reimbursement at the end of each month, and the money will be returned to the card attached to your lunch purchase. A confirmation email will be sent to you when the reimbursement has been issued.
BALANCES DUE
Amy's Patio Cafe will not hold balances due this year. Your child cannot receive Emergency Lunches or snacks a la carte without cash-in-hand. Please see the EMERGENCY LUNCH policy for more information.
